Edwin and Dollie Nash: They're Not Who We Thought They Were (Tombstone Tuesday)

Well, they're not who I thought they were, at least. At first. Dollie V. Nash Nov 5, 1861 - Apr 3, 1924 She Was A Blessing In Our Homes. (Photo © 2013 S. Lincecum) Edwin and Dollie Nash are both buried at Sardis Cemetery in Bibb County, Georgia. At first blush, it appears their relationship would have been that of husband and wife. In fact, that is how I initially began researching them. After a bit of digging, however, that relationship didn't make sense. Turns out they are cousins. Both were grandchildren of Reuben A. Nash (according to online family trees). Edwin was the son of E. A. and Emma Nash (per obituary below and census records). Dollie, who never married and died of breast cancer, was the daughter of Rev. A. E. Nash and Roxie Chappell (per her death certificate). E. D. Nash Sept 23, 1861 - Dec 31, 1909 (Photo © 2013 S. Happy Birthday, Donald & Thank-you, Mr. Nash

I have a confession to make: I am in absolute love with Donald Duck. He is by far my favorite Disney character, and he made his screen debut on this date in 1934. At that time, and for the following fifty years, the voice of Donald that I laugh at and love to hear was expertly provided by Mr. Clarence C. Nash. According to Wikipedia , Mr. Nash was born 7 December 1904 in Watonga, Oklahoma. He married Margaret Seamans and had two children. In addition to the voice of Donald, Mr. Nash also performed as Daisy Duck in her early appearances, as well as Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Mr. Nash died 20 February 1985 and was laid to rest in San Fernando Mission Cemetery at Mission Hills, Los Angeles County, California. His wife joined him in 1993. On their shared lawn style gravestone is an image of Donald and Daisy Duck. Annie Lou Nash's Cenotaph

The recent discussion regarding cenotaphs begun by Amy at Amy's Genealogy Blog , as well as a bit of curiosity about a stone I recently found prompted this post. In Sardis Cemetery located in Bibb County, Georgia, I came across the cenotaph transcribed here - In Memory of Our Mother Annie Lou Nash Who Was Interred In Trinidad, Colo. Feb 23, 1919 What peaked my interest was the distance between Trinidad, Colorado and Macon, Georgia. That's some 1400 miles! Surrounding gravestones suggest Annie Lou was married to T. A. Nash, as his stone refers to him as "Our Father." I tried to do a little digging to find out more about Annie and T. A., but I had no luck. I'm going to post transcriptions of the surrounding gravestones that I believe are family members here in hopes that someone might want to fill me in on what led the Nash family from Colorado to Georgia.
