Henderson Walker and Lula Watson English at Magnolia Park Cemetery

Henderson Walker "Henry" English, born 13 May 1860, was a son of Irvin and Joanna Howell English. Henry was married first to Eva Brantley in 1889, and this union produced three sons: Havis, Fenton, and Ray/Roy. About six years later, on 25 September 1895 in Houston County, Georgia, Henry married Lula Watson. She was born 26 April 1873, a daughter of Richmond H. and Fannie C. White Watson. Henry and Lula had three children: Fannie, Maud, and Irving Brown. Their son, who was orphaned about age five, was the only child from that union to survive to adulthood. Henry died 16 December 1903, and Lula died 25 January 1907. Both were buried in Magnolia Park Cemetery at Warner Robins, Houston County, Georgia. At the time of their deaths, however, the burial sites were in Watson Cemetery at Wellston, GA. (Wellston became Warner Robins in 1942, and Watson Cemetery became Magnolia Park in 1949.) The First Mayor of Warner Robins, Georgia

Charles "Boss" Watson 1875 - 1958 Magnolia Park Cemetery Warner Robins, Houston County, Georgia The WATSON family has been a fixture in the town of Warner Robins (formerly known as Wellston), Georgia since its inception. Charles "Boss" Watson was the son of one of the town's first residents. When the town was incorporated as Warner Robins in 1943, C. B. Watson was named the first mayor. And he did so much more -- The following is from "The Faces of Houston County" -- Building Houston County: A Watson Family Tradition, Part 1 by Sherri Martin for the Local Builder , Summer 2007. As the plans for the town took a dramatic turn, the Watson's family involvement in the growth of the city also grew... Charles Bostick "Boss" Watson was a local farmer and businessman, co-owning a mercantile business. And if that were not enough, he was also a county commissioner and served as a member of the school board. "Boss" donated the l...

Crawford V. Watson: One of the Best Known

Magnolia Park Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Warner Robins (formerly Wellston), Georgia. The land for it was donated by Mr. Thomas Watson. It was originally used for his family burying ground, known as Watson Cemetery. Mr. Thomas Watson lived across the street from the cemetery. Magnolia Park as it is known today was not officially established until 1949. Crawford V. Watson, grandson of Thomas Watson, was laid to rest in Watson Cemetery in 1914. He was born 20 November 1885, the son of Richmond Hezekiah Watson. I found a blurb in the 27 August 1911 edition of the Macon Weekly Telegraph stating C. V. Watson was sworn in as deputy sheriff of Houston county and moved to Perry to "assume the duties of the office." By the time of his death, his residence was back in Wellston. In an obituary for Crawford V. Watson from the 11 January 1914 edition of the Macon Weekly Telegraph , the Watson family is mentioned as being one of the best known in Houston county. There...
