MARIETTAN REPORTED MISSING FROM SHIPDr. Thomas Nolan, Emory Graduate, Disappears From Vessel at Sea.Dr. Thomas Nolan, of Marietta, 28-year-old Emory University graduate, and son of the late Dr. C. T. Nolan, founder of Dr. Nolan's sanitarium, at Marietta, was reported missing Thursday from the steamship Exilona, of the Export Steamship Corporation, on which he was making his first voyage as ship's surgeon. Dr. Nolan's disappearance was discovered on the ship's run between Gibraltar and Malta, where the vessel is now docked.Dr. Nolan was a graduate of the Marietta High school, the Virginia Military Institute and the medical school of Emory University in the class of 1928. He served for a time as an interne [sic] at Wesley Memorial hospital, and for about two years as an interne [sic] at the Knickerbocker hospital, in New York. He was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity and the Alpha Kappa Kappa medical fraternity.No further details regarding Dr. Nolan's disappearance except that it happened January 16, have been received by his mother, who is at present visiting her daughter, Mrs. Tom Turner, at High Point, N.C. Mrs. Nolan, who still maintains her home in Marietta, has been residing for the past year with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Burwell Atkinson, on St. Simon's Island.Dr. Nolan is a brother of Burwell Nolan, who is connected with the Coca-Cola company at High Point. He is a nephew of Judge Sam Atkinson, of the state supreme court, and the late Judge Spencer Atkinson. Mrs. Carter Barron, of Atlanta, wife of the manager of the Fox theater, is a first cousin.
